Lifestyle

We want our residents to enjoy their lives to the full. Focus is on the skills residents have rather than the ones they have lost. Working in partnership with families we offer the best for residents. Communal rooms provide opportunities for social engagement and residents are central to what activities are planned. We want our residents to stay active and engaged in interesting activities and there is something for everyone. Taking the time to get to know our residents and bringing joy to their everyday lives is something we pride ourselves on.

Social Programme

The Altadore activity programme runs 7 days a week and there are often several activities ongoing simultaneously.

A strong social, physical and cognitive programme is tailoured around the needs and interests of our residents. Participating in a range of interesting, creative and fun activities can make a huge difference to residents and their sense of happiness and wellbeing.

We pride ourselves on getting to know residents and what they like to do. Our residents committee make suggestions and requests for specific activities. An exciting social calendar reflects a broad range of activities and events that’s built around the interests of our residents. Residents remain part of their community and where possible continue to attend the groups they enjoy locally for example choirs or book clubs.

Activities range from music, sing-alongs and performances, seasonal celebrations, exercise sessions, art & crafts, walking programme, pet therapy, crosswords, storyteller, bingo, women’s group, men’s shed or chats, hand massages, spiritual services, day trips and lots more. Smaller groups of like-minded residents often like to do something specific together. For example, playing cards together.

Activity coordinators have activities in place every day of the week and there is always lots of fun and laughter in Altadore.
